DouLute? Isn't that in Minnesota? -- Biscuit

I just tried to start a new thread ("Thinking Inside The Box") and made it hosted, when it doesn't need to be. I can start a non-hosted thread, but I wanted to make sure the hosted one wasn't being created in the meantime.

Sorry about that.

Typo in thread title:

What authors wh are writing today will people be reading in literature class in 50 years?

VanPear -- Friday, October 25, 2002 -- 12:01:42 PM -- 9 of 2390

Hey, Lime and Cal--

I need to do some big clean-up in Tirades, but after a certain point in the thread, I longer get the "delete" option under posts. Can you help?

lime -- Friday, October 25, 2002 -- 12:02:56 PM -- 10 of 2390
you can fight it, or you can rock out to it

Weird. You get delete at the beginning, but not at the end?

Queen of Drama -- Friday, October 25, 2002 -- 06:36:41 PM -- 11 of 2390

should the posts about Wellstone be moved from the mid-year elections thread to David's new thread specifically on Wellstone?

CalGal -- Friday, October 25, 2002 -- 06:36:57 PM -- 12 of 2390
I remember a time, back in the late 90s, when I thought nonsense like this mattered somewhat more than I do now. Now I see well-educated people yammering about the birth control choices of their daughters, or gay marriage, and I think they are morons.

Yes, that makes sense. I'll do it.

VanPear -- Monday, October 28, 2002 -- 02:51:09 PM -- 13 of 2390

Whoops. I forgot to subscribe to this thread, which explains why I never saw the answer.

Yep, Lime, that's about it. I'll try and look back to see about where I stop getting the "delete" option.

VanPear -- Monday, October 28, 2002 -- 02:53:24 PM -- 14 of 2390

Okay, I was wrong. I have no deletion capabilities, except for my own posts.

We've got open tags in the Divorce thread. Help?

“Our country right or wrong. When right, to be kept right; when wrong, to be put right.” -- Sen. Carl Schurz

Hey, I posted in Divorce Laws and Policy and I don't think it reactivated. Can you take a look?

Queen of Drama -- Wednesday, October 30, 2002 -- 01:57:39 PM -- 17 of 2390

It did, LB.

I guess there must have been a time-lag. Yup, I see it too, now.

Oh, I fixed it. Every once in a while a thread doesn't reactivate, and I have no idea why.

Mostone -- Wednesday, November 06, 2002 -- 11:55:50 AM -- 20 of 2390

Hi guys - there's a post in Diet & Nutrition that looks like an advertisement to me. This doesn't seem to fit in w/ community standards, does it?

Nancy T. -- Wednesday, November 06, 2002 -- 01:48:45 PM -- 21 of 2390
We bloviate on a whole lot of different subjects. We might as well bloviate on this.

I was just coming over here to report that. We've been infiltrated by a spammer, apparently.

lime -- Wednesday, November 06, 2002 -- 01:50:22 PM -- 22 of 2390

Ok, deleted. Two things -- some sort of anti-spam needs to be added to the standards, since if it was there, I didn't see it. The other, doesn't it make you feel like we're getting to be a grown-up forum now, being hit by spammers?

CalGal -- Wednesday, November 06, 2002 -- 01:54:55 PM -- 23 of 2390

I don't think spam qualifies under any of these four criteria:

  • Respect hosted thread guidelines
  • Respect forum thread topic standards
  • Respect the forum privacy requirements
  • Participate in the forum's purpose

So I can add something specific--like "Spam is not participation in the forum's purpose", but I'd argue that it's covered.

lime -- Wednesday, November 06, 2002 -- 02:01:47 PM -- 24 of 2390
you can fight it, or you can rock out to it

Yes, I don't think it's not covered, but it's not specifically covered, which would be nice to have included.

Mostone -- Wednesday, November 06, 2002 -- 02:10:13 PM -- 25 of 2390

Thanks for getting right on it. I was unaccountably miffed by it.

CalGal -- Saturday, November 09, 2002 -- 06:33:51 PM -- 26 of 2390

Okay, I added a line on it under termination of account.
