I remember a time, back in the late 90s, when I thought nonsense like this mattered somewhat more than I do now. Now I see well-educated people yammering about the birth control choices of their daughters, or gay marriage, and I think they are morons.

Sweet Jesus, the New York Special Election is a nail-biter! I'm on pins and needles awaiting the returns.

In the darkness of barbarism men knew the truth without the facts. In the twilight of half-civilization, they saw the truth illuminating the facts. In the full blaze and radiance of complete civilization they found all the facts and lost the truth forever
Looks like Turner (R) is going to win. He's carrying Brooklyn almost 70 to 30, and about 1/3 of those precincts are in. Weprin looks stronger in Queens, but only slightly, and more than 2/3 of those precincts are in.

tying Weprin to the surprisingly unpopular commander-in-chief at every turn.
Heh. Another spotting of 'surprisingly' in the wild.

“Even before the polls closed, the recriminations – something short of panic, and considerably more than mere grumbling – had begun. On a high-level campaign conference call Tuesday afternoon, Democratic donors and strategists commiserated over their disappointment in Obama. A source on the call described the mood as ‘awful.’ ‘People feel betrayed, disappointed, furious, disgusted, hopeless,’ said the source.” What is especially significant is that Jewish voters now number among the betrayed, disappointed, furious, disgusted and hopeless.
Oh yes, Obama has a Jewish problem

Jesus loves liberals. However, the rest of us know they're total assholes.
Huge humiliation for President Failure and the rest of the criminally-corrupt regime last night.
The tard-libs can spin it however they goddamn want.
Those assholes just got a fucking mud-hole stomped through them in both NY and NV.
Tough shit.

Brown has his hands full. Warren's a serious competitor, and Massachusetts is a dark blue state where Republicans usually need all the help they can get just to make it close.

On the flip side, Brown couldn't ask for a better political environment in which to run as a Republican. Even if he loses, it's likely the GOP will still pick up four or five Senate seats.

Am I the only one who sees parallels to the 1972 election, but in mirror image: the Republicans are the Democrats and vice versa?

Well, if I am the only one who sees the parallels between the current election and the one in 1972 then I should be in line for some type of award, or at least a certificate. Because, history is on a repeat cycle and it wouldn't take Hunter Thompson to point it out...
