That moment when you have so much shit to do that you decide not to do any of it

Some of those combos are fairly nice.

"A man who can imitate a Spanish squirrel helping forty-eight men mow a meadow is capable of anything." Captain Martin Crieff, Cabin Pressure

Not a single Nevaeh or McKeighleigh. I'm disappointed.

My husband worked for a male Blaze. People would come into the resturant and try to pretend they knew Blaze to try to get seated without a reservation and say things, like "We have known Blaine (or Blake) for so long..."

His daughter's name was Bree.

I wonder if it was short for Brianna.

The daughter of a couple my husband plays tennis with is named McKenzie. FWIW, the couple is half-American, half-Puerto Rican, and the girl is awfully cute--she's as cute as a kitten.

I wonder when (if?) Brigid will make it onto this like the SS list or the name wizard.

You are the Proust of TPW, and we all prefer J.K. Rowling. -j. ross

Tolkien Raymond Francis (Caleb)

Poor Tolkien. Maybe he'll be a Tolly, though.

Mark Boswell is a nice combo.

Bebe, how is Adelyn pronounced? I'm distantly related to a baby AID-uh-lynn.

The cure for anything is salt water: sweat, tears or the sea. (Isak Dinesen)

The only "Blaze" I ever met spells it Blaise.

MOTHER: Don't you remember? We do NOT use ADJECTIVES!

Evaskye

I first tried to figure out which nationality this was and then I mentally inserted a hyphen (Eva-Skye) and realized it was just stupid.

Owen Alexander

This was the combo I wanted for Julia, had she been a boy and our last name not begun with F.

Live from New York!

IRISH! woohoo! I wonder how it's pronounced.

Diana -- Monday, October 23, 2006 -- 03:57:14 PM -- 28 of 15536
No wonder I slipped, and fell, and died,/Soaked by Zeus outside,/Soaked by Bacchus within./The odds were two to one/And they were gods.

I read a memoir called "Raising Blaze" about a single mom and her son.

The author lives in the same city as me, and for a moment I thought, maybe it's him! and then realized he must be in high school by now. Duh.

According to one of those baby-name sites, Blaze is nearly 100% a male name. Blech.

Ismene -- Monday, October 23, 2006 -- 03:59:57 PM -- 29 of 15536

Blaze makes me think of Blazes Boylan in Ulysses. But I'm guessing that's probably not the reference these parents were after...

Bebe Gallini -- Monday, October 23, 2006 -- 04:03:25 PM -- 30 of 15536

Bebe, how is Adelyn pronounced? I'm distantly related to a baby AID-uh-lynn.

Short A - rhyming with Madeleine (at least, in my mind!).

mollyT -- Monday, October 23, 2006 -- 04:10:17 PM -- 31 of 15536

That's how I was pronouncing Adelyn, until I was told I was wrong.

Who can turn the world on with her smile?

Met last week: Odilia. She was Italian, and I loved it.

Overheard: Ayelish. I'm probably spelling it wrong.

JayKay -- Monday, October 23, 2006 -- 07:48:56 PM -- 33 of 15536

I would guess the Catholic Blazes/Blaises are after St. Blaise.

JayKay -- Monday, October 23, 2006 -- 07:49:20 PM -- 34 of 15536

And from that list? Evaskye? Ack.

Violet -- Monday, October 23, 2006 -- 08:04:26 PM -- 35 of 15536
What Tiny Frogs.

Born yesterday to friends: Reef. Middle name, Alexandra, last name, very common/whitebread four-letter monosyllabic H noun. They'd been expecting a boy so it was a big surprise!

I should hate this, but I don't, somehow. I think it might suit the family (somewhat successful artist dad) and I think the whole shebang will pass the various adult dignity bars.

Bethany F. -- Monday, October 23, 2006 -- 08:06:28 PM -- 36 of 15536
MOTHER: Don't you remember? We do NOT use ADJECTIVES!

I think it would work better for a boy.

mollyT -- Monday, October 23, 2006 -- 08:06:54 PM -- 37 of 15536

Reef sounds like Reese with a speech impediment.

But she can be R. Alexandra if she wants.
