Does Anyone Else Watch ...?

Cathy Georges -- Wednesday, January 28, 2004 -- 11:09:39 PM

It's not all Survivor and Sex and the City out there. Lucked into a lesser-known show? Talk about it here! Until it gets cancelled because you're the only one watching, of course.

I remember a time, back in the late 90s, when I thought nonsense like this mattered somewhat more than I do now. Now I see well-educated people yammering about the birth control choices of their daughters, or gay marriage, and I think they are morons.

And notice how the shrinks treated it differently. Cherry Jones was fascinated in how (in her mind) he was allowing his subconscious to tip him in the right direction, whereas BD is convinced he's headed for a psychotic break. I also liked the fabric softener and the cooking scene, and the "Wear a helmet". The emotion of the last scene really got me too, watching them both ride the cycle. I dunno, I liked it.

I see what you're saying. It's definitely slow-moving. My dad, who loves Bones and NCIS, wasn't able to get into it. But I like it.

I just can't find the time to write my mind the way I want it to read.

Maybe we're not talking about the same episode - the one that bored me was last week's about the kid being kidnapped. The one with the fabric softener and motor cycle was indeed good!

Oh, I only saw part of that. I'll check that one out again and report back.

I watched the whole thing. You didn't think the kidnapping, and the son's anger at his dad, was interesting? My only complaint was that the bad guy was obvious.

I love Awake, but like me, the writers seem to like the green world better than the red. I wonder if the move to Oregon will happen, so they can recast the red world? But that seems expensive, to have two different locations.

If you wish to bake an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe.

Anyone else watching SMASH? I just discovered that all the episodes are on Hulu. It's Glee for grownups! Whee!

ana -- Thursday, April 05, 2012 -- 10:42:34 PM -- 4901 of 5572

We are watching it, but I feel like I find myself yelling at the characters much too frequently. I love Derek the evil director, and Angelica Huston as the producer. Everyone else I am iffy on.

I'm watching "Smash," but don't feel all that emotionally invested in the characters yet. But maybe I don't have to be.

I watched two episodes when Dad was here. It was fun, but too stressful.

Boston was founded by the pilgrims, a people so tough, they had to buckle their goddamn hats on.

I tried. Didn't stick with me. I wanted so much to like it.

I am finally watching PSYCH. I had sort of been saving it for a rainy day. I knew I would like it, especially from reading posts here and I have to say, LOVE it. Watching back to back episodes while working today.

We love Psych so much at our house.

If you wish to bake an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe.

I just discovered LIFE on Netflix, a cop show about a cop who was in prison for twelve years (wrongly convicted), then gets out, gets a big settlement, and as part of the settlement gets his job back. He is, to quote the character, "zen-ish."

It only ran two seasons. Does he find the real killers? Nobody spoil it for me, please.

palmist -- Wednesday, April 11, 2012 -- 02:04:03 PM -- 4909 of 5572

I watched that and tried to catch every episode, but I can't remember how it ended. Maybe it didn't. Maybe it just stopped.

The Detroit homicide cop show was like that. No resolution, just an ending.

All borders are porous to cats.

If I recall correctly, Nash Bridges was also cancelled in the off-season after a season finale cliffhanger.

Lizard, the first season is splendid. The first half of the second season is great. The questions get answered.

Now with fewer non sequiturs!

Cal, The New Yorker reviews another one of your favorite shows.

The addictive dreamscape of "Awake."

They wuv my shows! I'm watching it right now.

palmist -- Monday, April 16, 2012 -- 06:59:03 PM -- 4914 of 5572

I watched TV Guide's 100 shows to watch before you die, all four hours of it, and clearly, I've watched too much TV in my life. I've seen 96 of the 100 shows.

I've never seen My Mother the Car, The Man from Atlantis, Passions or Temptation Island. I don't think either of the first two were in syndication after they originally ran or I might have seen them at one time or another, but I'd never even heard of the second two.
