Apathetic? Uninformed? Don't even vote? Have your bread and want your circus?

I think it's just a mirror image of the Clinton effect. One end of the spectrum is for him no matter what, the other is against him no matter what, and in the middle, as LB points out, the ratings fluctuate all the time. To those of us on the against-him-no-matter-what end it looks like nothing sticks, and it looked the same way to those on that end of the Clinton spectrum.

Weaver -- Thursday, October 09, 2003 -- 12:05:56 AM -- 17 of 5380

Sometimes you are just too funny, LB.

Weaver -- Thursday, October 09, 2003 -- 12:08:04 AM -- 18 of 5380

I think Clinton had the same sort of thing going for him that Bush does: He struck a lot of people as being a nice guy, so they were willing to cut him some slack.

Brigit M -- Thursday, October 09, 2003 -- 12:15:55 AM -- 19 of 5380

Yes, Weaver, I think that's true.

Weaver -- Thursday, October 09, 2003 -- 12:20:29 AM -- 20 of 5380

See, LB, we just formed a dilettante consensus.

And yet we don't care about it very much.

Brigit M -- Thursday, October 09, 2003 -- 12:21:55 AM -- 21 of 5380

Well, I don't care only because neither of them ever struck *me* as a particularly nice guy. I may have odd standards, though.

Kawaii -- Thursday, October 09, 2003 -- 12:29:31 AM -- 22 of 5380
Confidence is what you had before you understood the situation.

I don't intended at all to be a safe place for the those of liberal tendencies and this isn't moderated, no one is going to be yanking any posts to protect sensitivities.

I never found Clinton or Bush to be particularly likeable or trustworthy. I don't think they are evil, but I don't sense the magic of their charisma.

edit: heh, Brigit. Me too.

Weaver -- Thursday, October 09, 2003 -- 12:30:06 AM -- 23 of 5380

Well, I don't care only because neither of them ever struck *me* as a particularly nice guy.

That's because neither one ever posted on TPW. But if they did, I'm pretty sure you would like them.

Weaver -- Thursday, October 09, 2003 -- 12:30:48 AM -- 24 of 5380

I don't sense the magic of their charisma.

But you see the effect, don't you?

Kawaii -- Thursday, October 09, 2003 -- 12:31:13 AM -- 25 of 5380

How do we they haven't posted? bushmaster may be Clinton incognito.

Weaver -- Thursday, October 09, 2003 -- 12:35:50 AM -- 26 of 5380

Goodness no. Nobody actually likes bushmaster, not even LB. Nor does anybody really despise him. He is completely in Jexter territory. Can't be Clinton.

I do see an effect, but I want it to be shrewd political prowess. Charisma makes it seem too much like they just got lucky.

edit: what good would it be to disguise yourself if everyone can tell who you are? Maybe he is Gore.

Weaver -- Thursday, October 09, 2003 -- 12:37:12 AM -- 28 of 5380

Ooh, that was funny.

Y'know. Someone could have mentioned that this was discussed a few weeks ago elsewhere.

Bingo -- Thursday, October 09, 2003 -- 01:15:48 AM -- 30 of 5380

I'm uninformed and didn't know it was discussed elsewhere.

I am a registered Democrat who votes, but I skim boring policy articles. I like to read nice little feature stories about the candidates' kids. I'm only partly kidding.

Welcome. I just saw in the enough already thread some posts about rabid antibushism.

Krusticus Rex

I'm here, right-leaning lefty that I am.

Bingo -- Thursday, October 09, 2003 -- 02:25:47 AM -- 35 of 5380

I can't stand Bush. I'm a left-leaning lefty.
